UNFPA India Representative presented her credentials to Minister of State, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India on June 6, 2019.

Ms. Argentina Matavel Piccin, the newly appointed Resident Representative for UNFPA India  presented her credentials to Mr V Muraleedharan, the Minister of State, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India on June 6, 2019. Prior to her arrival in India, Ms. Matavel was Representative in Cote d’Ivoire, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Botswana; she also served at WHO and UNDP at various points in her career, as well as with World Vision, where she spent 11 years in various leadership positions. Ms. Matavel is from Mozambique and has a Master’s degree in International Development from the American University, Washington DC, as well as a Certificate in Executive Master’s Programme in Public Policy Management from the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute (GPPI), Washington, DC.  In a career spanning close to forty years, Ms. Matavel has been at the forefront of programmes that have focused on the rights and health of women and girls, and giving a voice to youth and adolescents.

 As Ms. Matavel takes up her new position at the UNFPA Country Office in India, she is committed to working towards ensuring Rights and Choices for all.
