The year 2025 represents a transformative period for UNFPA in India as the 10th Country Programme (2023–2027) moves into full-scale implementation across the nation. Guided by the principles of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), our mission remains centered on delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.
In 2025, UNFPA significantly expanded its reach, doubling the number of adolescents receiving life-skills education to 6.4 million. Technical and strategic interventions in the four focus states—Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan—have led to over 5.6 million unintended pregnancies averted and the prevention of 5,000 maternal deaths. Through robust partnerships with the Government of India and the private sector, we are leveraging digital innovations, such as virtual reality simulation for midwife training and blockchain technology for gender-based violence response, to ensure no one is left behind.
This report details our collective progress toward achieving the "Three Zeros" by 2030: zero preventable maternal deaths, zero unmet need for family planning, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices.
