Planning for the overall development of the country is an important process. Demographic and health data are required for planning, programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Importance of population trends and anticipating demographic change at natation, subnational
and especially at district level are very important for planning and program management and implementation. The age-sex composition of population is required for the formulation of new programmes and they are also needed for the monitoring and scientific evaluation of a number of ongoing programmes of the various ministries, and tracking the progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
