Ambition, Acceleration, and Achievement

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India Annual Report 2023 celebrates a pivotal achievement – the launch of the Tenth Country Programme (CP10) in partnership with the Government of India (GoI).

CP10 focuses on reducing maternal deaths, increasing access to modern contraception, addressing gender-based violence, preventing child marriage, averting teenage pregnancy, and improving the sex ratio. It specifically targets four key states – Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan – emphasising a human rights-based approach to ensure no one is left behind.

The report underscores UNFPA's unwavering commitment to its core mandate: Ensuring Rights and Choices for All.  In essence, CP10 translates this mandate into action, striving to achieve three transformative results:

  • zero unmet need for family planning
  • zero preventable maternal deaths,
  • zero gender-based violence and harmful practices

UNFPA extends its deepest gratitude to the Government of India, state governments, donors, the private sector, NGOs, CSOs, think tanks, and communities.

Partnerships that are essential as we work together for Our Common Future.
