No Country for Young Girls

‘No Country for Young Girls?' is a powerful film that engages, provokes and promotes public dialogue on the issues related to gender-biased sex selection. It is useful in facilitating individual and community action on the issue by making them reflect upon their life and experiences. The film has been designed as an experiential learning tool to increase and extend the impact of NGOs and other social organisations in tackling the problem in partnership with community actors.

Concurrent Evaluation of The Red Ribbon Express 2012

On the request of NACO, UNFPA conducted concurrent evaluation of this intervention in collaboration with UNICEF. The zone-wise findings were shared with NACO and other stakeholders to inform better implementation and mobilization activities among general population. This brief report provides the overall findings of the concurrent evlaution and the recommendations for making such programme even more effective. The zone-wise detailed findings have also been compiled which can be obtained from UNFPA.

Use of Data for Planning and Monitoring of Development Programmes: Training course material

Publications

This manual is a five-day capacity building programme covering methods and sources of obtaining data on various development sectors of demography, reproductive and child health, education, poverty, drinking water and sanitation. The last section on monitoring and evaluation sums up the amenable indicators or their proxies that can be monitored or tracked at the district level. The course design includes hands-on practice and software for estimating various indicators using indirect demographic techniques.

An attempt to simplify the processes of assessing the quality of data from the perspective of improved planning and tracking of feasible Millennium Development Goal (MDG) indicators at the district level have been worked out after a review of development data generated by various national flagship programmes in two districts each in Karnataka and Rajasthan with good and not so good data systems in the country.

RAPID ASSESSMENT OF HMIS STRENGTHENING PROJECT IN BIHAR

This rapid assessment was conducted internally by UNFPA and IIHMR. The methodology was
decided in an internal brainstorming meeting and tools were developed to investigate project
achievements in terms of improving knowledge of the health functionaries on various data
elements of the Health Management System (HMIS). The field work for gathering data was
undertaken by the project staff during June - July, 2011. The summary report has been prepared
at UNFPA HQ, New Delhi, which provides interpretation of the data and brings out the lessons
learned and the way forward. The efforts of all those involved in this process are gratefully
acknowledged.
